Euclidean/Acheulean

new prototype 2025 @ Leveld Kunstnartun

Euclidean/Acheulean

A new interdisciplinary project in the early stages of production planned to be completed 2026/27. This project explores the relationship between collective music making and paleolithic tool making technologies. Inspired by the book ‘A Million Years of Music’, the works discuss the proposition that sophisticated lithic tool making technologies displayed by early hominin societies were not enacted based on a preconceived outcome but instead emerged naturally in the collision of collective performances, geological characteristics and the instinctive movement patterns of bilateral species such as us.

This project utilises hand crafted sculptural elements (knapped bifaces) alongside robotic percussion players, reenacting a moment of collective music making through live algorithmic rhythm composition.
